AMP Bank cardholders will be able to access a temporary increase in the limit for contactless card transactions to help reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
The payment industry is increasing the PIN limit for contactless card payments from $100 to $200 to reduce the need for physical contact with the payment terminal.
From Tuesday 7 April 2020, AMP Bank cardholders will begin to see an increasing number of retailers accepting contactless card payments without a PIN up to the new $200 limit, including major supermarkets.
The new $200 limit is expected to apply for a three-month period and will be extended if required.
AMP Bank’s Director of Retail Solutions Michael Christofides said: “This is great news for AMP Bank cardholders and another example of how the industry is working together to support the wellbeing and safety of Australians.”
AMP Bank cardholders are reminded that if their card is lost or stolen, they should ring 13 30 30 as soon as possible to cancel the card and order a new one.
